Ansac Technology supplies detection, safety and measurement instrumentation, and had been in business since 2000. It had never built its managers.
The situation
Stated plainly in the company's own account of why it engaged us:
"There are no structured programs to develop leadership and people management skills of the managers."
Alongside that, the company had no objective read on its own health. Performance was known department by department, in the heads of the people running them, and nowhere else.
What we did
A four-phase Human Capital Development project: conduct a needs analysis, co-create the interventions with the company rather than for it, implement, then evaluate against the baseline.
The engagement survey was built on Ansac's own stated values rather than a generic instrument, so the results argued in the company's own language. Leadership development, individual consultation, training and coaching followed, aimed at the heads of department who carried the targets.
What was achieved
The company's signed account of the ten months that followed:
"Exceeded overall Sales Target from 65% to 110% as of September 2019"
"Achieved 95% Accounts Invoicing Target"
"Achieved 100% compliance to safety with Zero accident"
"Achieve Zero customer complaints, and 19 good survey results with compliments"
In the recommendation, the same movement is put more directly: the work "helped us exceed our overall sales target from 65% to 110% in four months."
Why this worked
The target was never the problem. Ansac's heads of department knew their numbers. What they lacked was a management practice for getting there: how to delegate, how to prioritise the activity that actually pays, and how to hold a conversation about performance that changes something. That is a capability gap, not a motivation gap, and it responds to development rather than pressure.
Safety and customer complaints moved at the same time. That is the signal worth noticing. When a sales number improves alone, something is usually being borrowed from elsewhere. When sales, safety and customer satisfaction all move together, the operating discipline underneath has genuinely changed.
Ansac engaged us again four years later, for a learning and development project. Repeat business is the only client verdict that cannot be written into a testimonial.
