A marine engineering and construction firm, and a workforce for whom standard corporate training is close to useless.
The engagement
HSL Constructor works in construction and marine engineering. The brief was employee engagement through development, delivered across every level of the organisation.
That last part is the difficulty. A construction workforce spans site crews, supervisors, engineers and office staff, with different working hours, different literacy in corporate language, and entirely different tolerances for being talked at. We led a team of psychologists and counsellors to develop and deliver material contextualised for each of those groups rather than one programme delivered four times.
What the client said
"Ability to contextualize psychological materials and deliver it in a manner that addresses the needs of employees at all levels."

What this one demonstrates
The client singled out contextualisation, and in this sector that is the whole job. Psychological content that works in a boardroom will be dismissed on a worksite within ninety seconds, and once it has been dismissed the company has spent its credibility for the year.
The skill being described is translation, not content. It is also the reason our diagnostics run before design. You cannot contextualise for a workforce you have not met.
